You need your own UPC to create your own listing without others using your listing. The UPC is ONLY needed to set up your initial listing. AZ doesn’t want you to print or label your product with it though. They want you to use their unique FNSKU code printed on the packaging. In fact, they will place their FNSKU on top of your barcode if you put it on the box/item. Again, you need the UPC to establish you have ownership of your product. if you go the Brand Registry route,you CAN skip UPCs but it takes more hoops to get listed… it’s an extra step you can take so that if someone were to try and list items on your listing AZ is supposed to prevent them from hijacking your listing.
