Customer Return Request Over 1 year old
——————————————————-
*Sigh* I really hate dealing with the difficult customers on Amazon.

About 99.9% of the time I always refund and move on to feed the money making machine. However this one customer complaint really got under my skin. I have decided to fight it rather then just refund and move on. I have declined the return since it is outside the return window time frame.

I am debating if denying the return was a good call or not.. I mean it would only be $40 some dollars to do the return.. Is it worth my time to fight it? This will be the first return I have ever denied.

The communication goes something like this:

ORDER DATE: January 9, 2015 11:11:53 AM PST

BUYER: Return reason: Inaccurate website description
Customer comments: XXXX ordered Jan 2015 had expiration date of Jun 2015. Other XXXX from other suppliers have an expiration date at least 1 year in the future

ME: Thank you for contacting us. We will issue a prompt refund.
We are very sorry for the mix up in the warehouse.

ME: We just notice the order in question was placed on January 2015. Unfortunately this was an order placed over a year ago.
We cannot issue a refund for an order over a year ago. The item expiration date also matches the condition notes on the sold item. Very sorry

BUYER: Both the date of the order AND the expiration date of the strips (printed on the strip package) are clear. It is clear you shipped expiring XXXX, even if more than a year has passed.
If you prefer, though, I will simply note your refusal to refund in my
Amazon review.

ME: We try our best to work with customers on returns that follow Amazon’s guidelines. Please note even in your original comment you acknowledge that the items were not expired “Customer comments: XXXX ordered Jan 2015 had expiration date of Jun 2015. Other XXXX from other suppliers have an expiration date at least 1 year in the future”. We have contacted Amazon Seller Support with this Order# to see how they would like us to proceed with your demands.

You were right to fight this…. This is a ridiculous refund request, considering your item was not expired, had nearly 6 months of shelf life left at time of purchase. Customer can no longer leave feedback or do a charge back.

Sometimes it is good to stand up as amazon has pretty decent protection for sellers from buyers like these. Buyers have come to know that you will not fight and therefore they take thier stunt to the next seller and so on. Time to put a stop – if all sellers get tough things will get better and abuse will stop.
