I read in some other post, that it can help you to protect your product better against hijackers. Any comments?

Manufacturers can enroll  their brand in the Amazon Brand Registry and register themselves as the brand owner. The goal of the Amazon Brand Registry is to make it easier for sellers to manage their own brands and product listings on Amazon.

If you want to protect against hijackers you need to get brand registered. Adding the number to the label looks tacky and will not protect you from getting hijacked.

Manufacturer’s Part Number (MPN)

This is the preferred identifying attribute for the Amazon Brand Registry. Use this number only if no two SKUs share the same part number. Part numbers often (and preferably) are printed on the product packaging. The Manufacturer Part Number field is located on your ChannelAdvisor Common Template.
