I am in the process of getting a sample

I have a question. I am in the process of getting a sample and they are asking $30 for the shipping and to be sent through paypal. I also got this response via email through alibaba. Is this trustworthy or should I move along? They are all sorts of certified on alibaba but I have yet to have anyone email me instead of responding to the inquiry.
They also say the shipment payment is for “freight” so would I need to get a forwarder to bring it to my home or will it go through the mail since it would be just a small box. We are talking smaller than a shoebox here. I am very unclear about the whole shipping from china to the US thing.
Any help would be appreciated. I am super tired so if none of this makes sense, then I will do my best to clarify if need be. Thanks much!

Depending on the item you ordered, the price may vary. I’ve paid as low as $95 and as high as $245 for different product samples. In my case, each sample was customized to my specs, thus, the higher price.

As for ‘freight’. You may want to double check with your supplier. They may be using ‘freight’ as a misnomer. Unless your product weighs a ton, chances are it’ll come via air express.

That quote actually sounds low. I’ve paid $50-$100 in the past. And the mention of a freight forwarder suggests that the factory intends to send the package as “cargo,” either by air or sea. I’d suggest replying and request that they send that package “air express” (this means DHL, FedEx, UPS, etc.) *or* request a “door-to-door air cargo” shioment which would eliminate your need to work with a freight forwarder

Hey, from me my supplier asked 150 bucks, however they claimed they will reduct the whole sum from my order. I paid the 150, however I will probably change my product, because I chose a gate category.
