I found a product I’d like to sell and the manufacturer in China offers OEM but also has a default brand on the product.
So I was thinking to buy the default brand, it would be cheaper than customizing the product, the box, instructions, etc.
I would like to have your opinion on the subject in case I’m missing something somewhere that would back stab me later.
The product is not sold on Amazon under their default brand.
Should I create my own brand and pay the manufacturer all the OEM modifications or should I just distribute their default brand?
It’s volume and weight. Obviously a huge box of packing peanuts won’t weigh much but takes up a lot of volume on the plane. Your volume is not too large, but your carton is going to be around 44 or more pounds depending on how they pack your items. One box of 44 pounds via air will get cheaper per box the more you ship. Obviously the heavier, the more it will cost. how much do your items weigh? On the other hand, we all fight with weight issues. Some may shy away from heavier items so the competition will be less.
Also, about the shipping costs.
I’m trying to have an idea of how much it would cost from CN to US and I keep hearing/reading: “On average It’s $2 per item by air and $1 per item by sea”.
The item I wanna ship is 0.6 kg per item, 32 items per 55cm x 35cm x 45cm carton and the minimum price I can get is roughly $17 per item on https://ratequote.dhl-usa.com
What am I missing?
