Just got a few quotes from Alibaba suppliers and when I requested to have the private label on the products they want a MOQ between 1000 to 3000 and they won't provide a private label with a sample. What should I do?.

Just got a few quotes from Alibaba suppliers and when I requested to have the private label on the products they want a MOQ between 1000 to 3000 and they won’t provide a private label with a sample. What should I do?.
I am just testing the waters and like to try selling a few products. Suppliers are willing to send the free samples and I pay only S&H but is it worth it without my private L?

When checking sample quality from a supplier, it’s not common for the samples to be sent with your logo on them. This would require work from them, and at this point they are trying to protect themselves from tire kickers.

If desired, you could ask them to also ship you some samples of their packaging and engraving. Not with your branding, just samples.

Moving beyond the sampling phase, 1-3000 moqs are the norm. For an initial “test” run, I believe the ASM training suggests you ask them for a “one time exception” for a smaller run of 100-500 units.

first I get my samples then I place my test order 150-200 MOQ but I want it with my private label on the products. The suppliers are requesting a minimum order of 1000 MOQ +++. I need to know if this normal or do I need to negotiate more with them. I appreciate your help or other sellers in the group.

Imagine producing 200or 300 goods which are customised. Its pretty expensive for the manufacturer. They are use to producing private label goods in there 1000s. If you want to order a sample just get a sample which hasn’t got your name on it. It wont make a difference as you are the only one seeing the product at this stage. Its relatively normal to pay for shipping. My advice to you is dont worry about getting your name carved onto the product. When you design your packaging ask for a white sticky label with your name on it. I recommend you do this because you dont really know if your product will sell and its expensive to. The labels will be applied to your packaging for around 30-40 dollar’s. Your packaging and product will be develop as you sell more items. Dont go all out, take it easy and let your product evolve as your sales increase.

The white sticky labels is a great idea and inexpensive. And at least I will have some sort of brand on the package starting with my first order.
