I have my sample coming in the mail in a couple of days.
My product weighs 1.5 pounds each and is about 1/2 the size of a shoe box. Each unit comes out to $4.6 and I would like to order 1,000 units for my first time. Therefore, I am spending $4,600 on just the product.
In terms of shipping, my supplier quoted me $3500 for express shipping for a shipment that weighs 1,500 pounds.
My questions are:
1) Can I get another express shipping quote from a third party that might be lower than this? Or should I assume that my supplier is giving best rate?
2) Would you do 1000 of them by air? 1000 by sea? Or maybe, 300 units by air, and 700 by sea?
3) What are your recommended freight forwarders that are cheapest but do a great job? I still need a quote.
Thank you in advance
I haven’t done sea shipping but assume it would be similar.
My shipment took about 7-10 days. It was trucked to Shanghai, flown to JFK, held an extra day while I cleared up a minor issue with the labels, then flown to Philadelphia, then trucked to the Delaware warehouse for delivery appointment at Amazon early the next morning
Why not air cargo instead of air express?
#2 – There will be additional costs involved with getting your products from airport or port to warehouse, so splitting them up may not save you money or may cost more.
#3 – Freight forwarders recommended by other members:
FBAImporter, FBAforward, Forest Shipping, Shapiro, ThornleyPitt, AMGCustoms, Coppersmith, Livingston Intl, Shippado, SampleCheckers, Simpliship, Seabay, and, recommended by someone in Australia, Genfreight Logistics, Medey.com. I have only used (and liked) Ever Concord Logistics.
