Does anyone have any experience shipping with USPS Flat Rate Padded Envelopes?
There is no option available in Amazon Seller for a padded flat rate envelope – only the regular flat rate envelope. Does the post office accept both as flat rate envelopes? I ask because I run a separate business outside of amazon and use my own shipping program which does have a different option for padded flat rate envelopes and the price is usually .30 more. I just don’t want the post office to kick back my shipping if I use the wrong option. Thanks for any Info!
Hello, I see this question has been marked anwsered but I thought this info might help:
For Prioity mail, some have suggested that you print the flat rate envelope postage anyway for the padded envelope. This has occasionally worked for me, but sometimes the postal staff at USPS require me to add additional postage. The flat rate and padded flat rate envelopes are NOT the same cost and the label IS different. The shipping labels for flat rate have notations on them. For instance, the shipping label for the regular flat rate envelope says something like “Flate Rate” and the padded envelope (when printed from ebay) will say something like “Padded Flt Rt.” The honest & safest way to prodceed is to print the regular flat rate postage and tell the USPS clerk that you need to add additional postage. Write down how much you already paid so you can pay the difference. This way you still get the online discount.
Also note, for Priority Express, all flate rate envelopes are the same cost so in this case you can print the postage from Amazon and not have a problem.
No, padded priority mail envelopes cost more to mail .
Don’t try to use the regular flat rate shipping label for a padded envelope.
If so, the envelope will be returned for insufficient postage or USPS might try to collect from your customer.
