Prime Day is the hot topic right now and very well should be. Last year I wasn’t on Amazon as a seller and miss out on Q4. I have a limited budget and really have to play my cards right so have a few questions:
1. From your experience, is Prime Day like Black Friday where you can buy items at full retail, price higher on AZ and make sales?
2. Would you suggest to go after the hot items because they are more likely to sell out?
I think what you sell on prime day is whatever you would sell on Amazon any other day of the year. I don’t buy special inventory for prime day or even q4 for that matter other than having a lot more toys available during Q4 than rest of year. I do my usual scanning of items on various categories. It can be something at clearance where I make 100 or more percent or more ROI with good rank or it can be something at full retail price if that works. Where I price things at is the buy box for the most part whether it is prime day or q4 or any other day. What I find happens on prime day or Q4 for that matter is that more people come to Amazon looking to buy items. I suppose that could cause items to sell out more quickly on really low ranked items effectively raising the buy box price so maybe you would want to have higher prices on certain things if let’s say you had a toy ranked 1000.
