Product variation

I’m struggling with the process of creating a multi-buy listing for one of my products. If anyone could confirm that I’m heading in the right direction or point me in the opposite direction it would be greatly appreciated.

Basically, I have a product which I want to sell in a two pack. Specifically, on a single page I would like “Package Quantity” to show 1 or 2. So, I’ve created a parent / child listing with the variation as quantity. Now, I will assign a unique UPC to the two pack and request some inventory in two packs from my manufacturer. Then, I should be good to go right?

Also, is there a simpler way to achieve this? Surely Amazon could just pick two items from the same box!

If amazon just picks 2 items it is just customer changing quantity, not a different option i think

I believe you need to package the 2 same items together (box, plastic, etc), and add your own unique ASIN label (you can buy 250 UPC codes on eBay for about $7)
