I resell online data backup services to clients. Now I’m wanting to add these sales to my Amazon seller account. And I’m having the most difficult time trying to figure out how to list this.
In a nutshell, the buyer will purchase the item. Get their registration key in their software library (that Amazon provides) and instructions on downloading the software and a how-to guide.
Check this Norton Security as an example:
Norton Security Premium
My product would be listed the same way. How can I do this?
Amazon support told me to create a developer account. I’m doing that now. That might be the way – but I’m not actually developing software and wanting to sell it. I’m just reselling software made by another company.
Digital content cannot be sold through your Seller Central account. All items here are required to be physical product for which needs to be shipped. Only Amazon is allowed to sell downloadable content.
A solution would be to burn these to CD/DVD and sell the physical Disc. However, since you are not the developer of the software this is not an option.
When you see downloadable content on Amazon, you will notice Amazon is the only seller (as in your example).
The solution mentioned by Seller Support assumes your the owner/developer of the software. Since your not that, you will not be able to get approved through that program.
Sorry, but your not going to be able to sell it through Amazon.
only Amazon can sell digital download software. If you look at each one in your example link you will notice it says ‘Sold by Amazon Digital Services LLC’.
If you were the developer of the software you would have options. However, as a digital download reseller you will not get approved to do that on Amazon.
Microsoft and Adobe are both gated anyways. Even if you were selling the physical software, you would have to pony up $5,000 per brand and a letter from MS and Adobe, stating that you are authorised to sell on Amazon
