When ordering a trial sample from China, is it best to order as a company with at VAT number or as a person without a VAT number. I head this can give a differance in at the customs office.

makes no difference in my opinion, usually a sample (if small enough) will be handled by someone like DHL or Fedex and they will handle the clearance and then charge you the vat and duty.

Doesn’t make any difference except for your accounts. It’s good for the Chinese company to know that you are a serious company though who expect to order larger quantities later.

I agree that it would not make a difference Dave. If these are sample shipments have you looked at a DHL reseller? They provide large qty discounts for small shippers while getting to your in less than a week many times.

no difference. i paid no vat or any duty for samples. They usualy state that’s a sample and the value is $0.01.
