Does a freight forwarder (i.e. forest shipping) handle everything from picking up goods from supplier’s warehouse, shipping through ocean, handling customs and paperwork, delivering from port to my house/warehouse? I am wondering what extra work I would have to do besides hiring a good freight forwarder? Anything in the middle from leaving the supplier’s warehouse to getting to my warehouse that I would have to deal with? Thank you

I just did air cargo through a freight forwarder. All I had to do was express mail a check to him after my shipment arrived at JFK and he calculated final costs.

So the initial quote the freight forwarder gives you for the shipment does not include the final costs? Thank you

I honestly don’t remember and I’m not at my desk. But I don’t recall a noticeable difference between his initial estimate and the final bill.

If the packed size and weight of the shipment you have them is accurate then there shouldn’t be any difference in what’s quoted and billed. Yes FF’s do door to door.

I used Forest Shipping for my product and I didn’t have to do anything. They picked it up at the manufacturer and took care of everything. I had it shipped by air so I don’t know if there is anything different for shipments by sea.
