I have sold 3 times to one customer on Amazon. I paid about $130 for shipping because were big items and the customer lives far. Everything went ok but then the customer requested a refund because he claimed ‘ items bought by mistake’. My question is how can I get my shipping cost back if the customer refused a partial refund and asked for a full refund?
With a return reason of , “bought by mistake”. Authorize the return and inform the customer that there will be a 20% restocking fee.
Once the customer returns the item, you charge up to the 20% restocking fee. If 20% is more than you paid in shipping I would reduce the restocking fee, but you haven’t told us how expensive the purchase was so I am just guessing.
But you must tell the customer you are going to charge a restock fee for a discretionary return. As MF already posted they can still leave negative feedback or file an A-Z claim.
Depends on whether or not you can take a hit on your feedback or a possible A-Z. Be sure to keep the email that states that the seller bought the items by mistake, and answer quickly if they file an A-Z. You have every right to withhold shipping, but you will probably get dinged on feedback. There is really not anything you can do about that. It depends on how much money you are willing to pay to keep a good feedback rating.
