he was mentioning PL,with retail arbitrage you are investing in and out,there are benefits and drawbacks of both but with arbitrage the good thing that you can always buy/try 2-3 units and not be so dependent on 1 particular item.

its upto you if you just want to try first time than go with small amount than after getting sales increase your inventory if your product cost you can get at 2 or 3 $ per unit, Than you can invest $500

Depends on the product and what margins are you expecting, always count the shipping in – shipping is actually the biggest cost if you do by air + count AMZ fees. the fact the product is light means nothing if its a shoe box size so make sure your supplier tells you how much the shipping costs before ordering

Totally depends on how quickly you want to get your product moving.
Also depends on how many reviews you need to be competitive.
$3,000 to $10,000 is a decent range.
Anyone who says $500 just isn’t serious about this business.

my point still stands. A year or two ago it was feasible to get started on $500.
Today you are just holding yourself back and setting yourself up for failure.
Can it be done? Sure. But you are way more likely to fail.
