I just noticed Amazon had "hi-jacked" someone's latest PL product (a few days old), how did it happen? Why didn't Amazon just lower the price by 1 cent and own the buy box too?

Lowering the price 1 cent will not guarantee buy box ownership at all. And that seller is probably selling direct to Amazon

Often Amazon ends up with inventory of a product. If it’s lost and reimbursed and they do find out often they simply sell it on the same listing.

But they do so under Amazon warehouse deals. When it’s Amazon themselves they legit purchased for resale.

Just realized 95% of their products have Amazon piggybacking them as well. The seller FBA some items but FBM some others. Amazon has LOWER prices on some items, sometimes the same (but never higher). What benefit are there for the PL seller to have this type of agreement with Amazon.
