I was in talks with manufacturers regarding a specific product, and actually found a few decent suppliers with competitive rates. However, none of them accept any form of payment that gives the buyer security, such as PayPal or via Alibaba Trade Assurane etc… All of them take either Western Union or T/T Bank Transfer.

How do I pay them (I’m talking about a large order where the order would be upwards of $15k) without having any security? They can just take the money and walk away.

Anybody have any advice on how to proceed? Your time is much appreciated.

P.S. Yes, I know that the reason they don’t take these payments is to be secure on their (the suppliers) end, but I’ve got rational concerns too.

Also, I found 1 supplier that agreed to take the first 1-2 orders thru PayPal, just to build trust. Thru communication with the other suppliers, I let them know that unless they can help me out, I’ll have to place small orders with them, until I gain trust in paying for a big0 order via bank transfer or wire. Does that make sense?

Don’t know how to pay them… but I can tell you when searching for suppliers you should always check the Alibaba Trade Assurance box, then all the suppliers shown accept Alibaba Trade Assurance and you can feel more comfortable.

That being said, most of these companies are legitimate and you probably won’t have a problem. I’m sure there’s a way to do some research on the company to insure your safety.

Don’t do it – find another supplier that uses trade assurance.

The product I’m looking for is largely manufactured in India, and all the big companies that have comparative rates do not have trade assurance.

After you’ve vetted them, Pay 30-50% as an initial deposit and the balance upon order completion. Hire a third party inspector to check out the final product before sending the balance of payment.
