Hi, we are looking to start selling on amazon.com and wanted the sales to be FBA – i understand we need to get the items over to the US directly rather than through amazon’s network. Does anyone have experience of this? Co we get discounted UPS rates etc?
At this time, you need to work with a logistics company to get your items to the US. Depending on the size of the shipment, you can either use the standard carriers (UPS, Fedex, DHL) and have them deal with the customs documents for you. For larger shipments (probably ocean freight), you would use a freight forwarder to receive the shipment at a US port, clear customs and reship to the appropriate Amazon warehouse(s). Note that most shipments will go to multiple warehouses – not just a single warehouse. You may need to either prepare for what your FBA shipments will require before you prepare your shipment in the UK or use the logistics company to repack your shipments to reship to the final destinations.
UPS discounted rates would only be available for the final leg of the shipment from the US freight forwarder location to the FBA warehouses. You would need to deal with those AFTER your shipment is ready to be picked up on Amazon.com
Hi, We have been preparing our shipment to the USA for shipment on 6th March – We found a company called Shapiro, recommended on the Amazon USA Forums, who manage the logistics directly from our factory in Europe to the FBA fulfillment center/s in the USA.
They do have a good website that explains everything in great detail. We found them very responsive to our email inquiries with lots of information.
Just search on Google for Shapiro Amazon FBA and the link should come up in the search criteria.
Hope this helps
And Good Luck 🙂
