I occasionally sell door wreaths. They don’t weigh much but the box is big 24 x 24 x 5. In the past, the shipping cost has been $12 post office and $14 UPS and Fed Ex. I went to get postage today and it is now $36 post office and $14 UPS and Fed Ex. I think that the post office wants out of the package business.

With usps, if you ship priority, for zones 5-8 a package that big will have a surcharge, while zones 1-4 will not. Rates did go up Jan 17, but your difference probably has more to do with the distance of the buyer.

We are in NC, and so many buyers are in Cali… the cost to ship priority is really high. Might look at reducing the size of your items to maximize shipping costs

If you ship Parcel Select instead of Priority, the dimensions will not be an issue.

Dimensional rates kick in when the package has to use a plane to get to the destination in 3 days rather than by truck
