However the SKU assigned by amazon (VB-QXXX-XXXX) under "Manage Inventory" is very different from the FNSKU on the item label printed (X000XXXXXX). Is this normal? I though they were supposed to be the same code.

Just created my 1st listing on amazon and printed the item label (FNSKU)

  1. However the SKU assigned by amazon (VB-QXXX-XXXX) under “Manage Inventory” is very different from the FNSKU on the item label printed (X000XXXXXX). Is this normal? I though they were supposed to be the same code.
  2. I am planning to print my FNSKU on my product box straightaway so this is the reason for me to create this listing and print the item label beforehand. Amazon didn’t allow me to print it until I convert it to “Fulfilled by Amazon” though. So should convert it back to “Fulfilled by Merchant” as the product is still under development?

item SKU and FNSKU are 2 different things.
