Getting this error message when I try to update my product title:
“Product Name : The value ‘MY PRODUCT NAME’ specified cannot be used as it conflicts with the value ‘MY OLD PRODUCT NAME’ for ASIN ‘123456789’ in the Amazon catalog. If this is ASIN ‘123456789’ update the value to match the ASIN data. If this is a different product, update identifying information (UPC/EAN/Part Number/etc.).
Do you guys know why this is happening?

Is it an 8008 error code. It’s the story of my life, they auto register products for it at times. It basically means that the EAN/UPC has details tied to it and if you don’t enter them as they are on the brand registry, your listing will see that error.

Only thing I can think of is that I used my seller name in the old title as if it were a brand. Maybe they registered it as you say. And that would suck because I’ve changed my mind on using the name.

If you look at your processed listings report, and hover over the actual error colour on the third sheet, it should tell you which part.

Not necessarily brand registry. It can happen when you create a product and they discover that there’s already one that looks like yours in the “super secret OLD database”. FWIW, if you think that yours is a better title (adds important keywords, corrects incorrect info, etc), open a ticket and ask them to update. They’ll do so faster if you provide details about why yours is better.
