What is the point of the ASIN change notification email? What are my concerns I’m to be focused on with regard to this email?

Don’t ignore them, read the emails. ASIN changes can mean anything from weight change of product to a completely different product being offered.

sometimes they merge your item into another listing in which your pricing could be over or under priced (if you are secure on the margins you make this isnt an issue) sometimes they change an item from oversized to not and vice versa, all these should be looked at so that you know for sure what is going on with your product.

They are changing categories, it appears. I piggybacked on an existing listing. Then my listing was blocked. I called and asked why. They said it was incorrect category, so the system had to correct it to the new category; thus, my listing was blocked for 24 hours. NOW the system is taking it back to the incorrect category of Baby when it should be in video games. But Baby is a lower rank than Video games. Baby is 18xx, Video is 48xx. Could it be that the system’s bots are moving it to lowest-ranked categories?

You’re supposed to run through a Check List before you just each item. Making sure the category is correct, make sure the product description is 100% correct, make sure any/all photos are correct, etc. If all is a 100% match, only then list it. Then always check ASIN notifications and follow up that as well. Just know that Sellers may go in and change a title/pictures/descriptions and Amazon won’t send an ASIN email. You have to check frequently to make sure your inventory still matches each listing.
